Neurodivergent Support Series 2026 - Online

Online - Zoom

The Neurodivergent Support Series is a 4-day, practical journey (structured as one focused day per term) designed to help you create truly supportive and affirming spaces by focusing on the core areas of neurodivergent experience.

This series moves beyond general awareness, offering concrete tools and neuro-affirming frameworks to dramatically improve outcomes for neurodivergent staff and students.

You'll gain a deep understanding of neurological differences in processing, executive function, and stress response, allowing you to implement effective, compassionate support systems across your school.

This professional development series includes four one-day sessions per school term which will run online on Zoom

Unlock Your Potential: Neurodivergent Support Series (4 Days)

Embark on a transformative 4-day journey to improve your teaching practice through a neurodivergent lens.

This intensive training moves beyond theoretical knowledge, offering actionable strategies to cultivate thriving spaces and support well-being.

Day 1: Delve into Neurodiversity and Belonging

This module shifts the focus from deficits to strengths, ensuring your practice is built on a foundation of genuine inclusion and acceptance.

  • Understand: Why a strengths-based approach to neurodiversity is necessary for real success.

  • Know: The complex reality of "masking" (camouflaging) and how it profoundly impacts a student's sense of safety and belonging.

  • Do: Learn practical strategies to intentionally create a greater sense of belonging where authentic self-expression is valued.

Day 2: Supporting Executive Functioning (EF)

Explore the neurobiology behind organisation, planning, and focus, and learn targeted ways to support these critical functions.

  • Understand: The crucial link between a person's character strengths and their Executive Functioning profile.

  • Know: The vital role of neurotransmitters in regulating EF and how to support brain chemistry through the environment and routines.

  • Do: Plan specific supports for four key areas of executive function (e.g., working memory, inhibitory control, flexible thinking).

Day 3: Supporting Sensory Processing

Gain clarity on sensory profiles to stop misinterpreting communication and start providing effective, calming accommodations.

  • Understand: The diverse landscape of sensory processing needs—it's more than just sound and light.

  • Know: The five stress areas of overwhelm and how to spot them before they escalate.

  • Do: Learn to accurately distinguish between hypo- and hyper-sensitivities to tailor responses that truly meet the need.

Day 4: Managing Burnout, Overwhelm, and 'Defiance'

This final module focuses on regulation, reframing challenging behaviours, and providing concrete, manageable support systems.

  • Understand: The difference between a true meltdown and a tantrum (and why this distinction is critical for your response).

  • Know: The five small accommodations you can put in place immediately that make a massive difference in preventing overwhelm.

  • Do: Put in place support systems to proactively manage and teach co-regulation and self-regulation skills.
